How to Stop Rape

It has been 12 years since the Nirbhaya case in Delhi and after all those things this year a new case came of a 6 years old child. The news was tremendously shocking and heartbreaking. Now It’s time to bring change and do something to stop rape. Its time to talk about those things which nobody talks about and what can we do to stop rape.

If I talk about the rape statistics in India. According to report of India.com, 77 rape cases were reported across Indian on an average every day in 2020. It means 3 rapes every hour and 28,046 all over year.  Let’s know some other numbers. This number more worst in 2019, 32000 rape cases were reported. It means 4 rapes every hour. This data is on our record but the real no of rape cases is much larger than this. There are lots of women who can’t raise her voice against these kinds of crimes just because of society. After all this most hurting fact is that in 2019 less than 1/4th people was arrested against a rape or crime against women.

In a survey report of The Thomson Reuters foundation. In this report finding India is the most dangerous nation for sexual violence against women.

Now the question came: whose fault is this?

Society in (that we taught that males are the supreme.)

Judiciary (who took lots of time to give the judgment.)

We (who forget everything after one or  two week)

Now the question is what we can do? Let’s discuss the things which no one talks about. Don’t worry, in this blog we are not going to criticize the government or system. In this blog I’m going to talk about some points and facts which I believe that if our society work on these points we will definitely control the the current situation and decrease the no of rape in our country.

Sex Education

We are the second largest country in the world. It means we have sex a lot. We want sex but we don’t want to talk about sex. In India talking about sex with a family member is considered a sin. The teenagers whether it's boys or girls lots of physical and mental changes are happening in their bodies and they are discovering their sexuality. But we don’t have that kind of system where somebody guides or answers them properly.

In schools the topic of reproduction is being avoided by the teachers. They feel uncomfortable talking about how we reproduce or sex which is so important and must for everybody . The teenagers are curious; they have lots of questions they want answered. We can avoid their question but not their curiosity when in our society nobody talks about it so they start to find the answer by themselves. Sometimes they learn wrong things and make wrong assumptions.  If the education system is not providing proper guidance to the children now it is the responsibility of parents that they talk to their kids properly.  So never shy in front of your kids while answering them. When a person have proper knowledge it will help to decrease the cases and help us to stop rape.

Media

In India there are lots of movies which are based on women objectification. I am not saying that movies are not being made on bold subjects it should be, but makers have to understand which crowd is going to watch this movie and what will it impact on the audience. As an audience our responsibility is to totally avoid this kind of toxic content and show the makers that it is not acceptable and we want something better.

Make Prostitution legal

Maybe this point is controversial. It's fact Australia, Germany and there are lots of countries where prostitution is legal. In Germany the sex workers are provided the health insurance facilities as well and the paid tax as well.  Making prostitution illegal it never stops so why don’t we regulate it properly and make it legal. After this sex worker also gets a legal status they will not be treated like a criminal. They are also human beings. A report said the after making Prostitution legal Netherland reduced 30% – 40% rape cases. There are lots of problems in prostitution, but it can be the easiest way to provide the sexual satisfaction of a person. Now it’s the time We have to start, somewhere because until we will not start we will be stuck on zero as always. Situation will remain the same.

Safe Internet browsing

We have all have to understand that on internet nobody is our friend never ever trust on internet we all should learn that how to safe on internet many of time women or children need someone online who pretend to be their friend and this friend take advantage of their innocence According to Hindustan times recently in Kerala woman travels 300km to meet her online friend and gang-raped. Keep yourself safe on the internet, never ever trust anyone on the internet.

In our society we all have to understand that in the 21st century we must openly talk with our teenagers and without any shyness. Everybody has to be open minded because incomplete knowledge is more dangerous than a weapon. So never feel shy and openly talk about sex and sexology. This was only for this blog. I hope you like it don't forget to share with your friends.
